Reliance Power Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary Reliance NU Energies Private Limited, has secured the largest allocation in SJVN’s tariff-based competitive bidding process. The company has been awarded 350 MW of solar generation capacity along with 175 MW/700 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Upon commissioning, this project will contribute 600 MWp of installed solar PV capacity and 700 MWh of energy storage, significantly strengthening Reliance Power’s position in the renewable energy sector. This development increases the company’s total clean energy pipeline to 2.5 GWp of solar and over 2.5 GWh of BESS, making it the largest player in India’s integrated Solar + BESS market.
The winning tariff for the project was set at INR 3.33/kWh, fixed for 25 years, making it one of the most competitively priced projects in India’s renewable energy transition. The Letter of Award (LoA) from SJVN is awaited.
This allocation marks a major milestone in Reliance Power’s strategic shift toward clean energy. The project is part of SJVN’s 1,200 MW solar + 600 MW/2,400 MWh BESS ISTS-connected tender, which attracted bids from 19 participants, with 18 qualifying for the e-reverse auction. The tender was oversubscribed more than four times, highlighting strong industry interest in reliable renewable power solutions.
The project includes a mandatory four-hour daily discharge window, ensuring reliable peak power delivery to state distribution companies (Discoms). It will be implemented under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model in line with standard bidding norms from the Ministry of Power.
Separately, Reliance NU Suntech Private Limited, another 100% subsidiary of Reliance Power, recently entered into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop Asia’s largest integrated Solar + BESS project.
This landmark project will feature 930 MW of solar capacity paired with 465 MW/1860 MWh of BESS, backed by an investment of up to INR 10,000 crore. The project will operate at a fixed tariff of INR 3.53/kWh for 25 years, offering strong long-term revenue assurance.
Together, these developments underscore Reliance Power’s strategic commitment to renewable energy leadership and its role in advancing India’s sustainable energy future, while creating enduring value for all stakeholders.
