Benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty pared most of the early gains to settle marginally higher on Thursday as profit taking in index heavyweight Reliance Industries and Infosys took away the sheen of the GST rate cuts announced on commonly used personal items and daily essential products.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 80718.01 up by 150.3 points or by 0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24734.3 up by 19.25 points or by 0.08 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81456.67 and intraday low of 80608.94 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24980.75 and intraday low of 24708.2

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3480.25,+5.96%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 934.85,+4.28%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2005.30,+1.98%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1212.55,+1.50%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 415.85,+1.06%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14655.65,-1.78%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 754.65,-1.78%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1443.15,-1.57%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 330.20,-1.24%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 282.60,-1.19%), among others.
