Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to open on a subdued note on December 8, despite positive indications from GIFT Nifty, which is trading higher around 26,316.50.
On Friday, domestic markets gained about 0.6 percent, supported by rate-sensitive financials, after the Reserve Bank of India announced a 25-basis-point cut in the benchmark interest rate.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 85712.37 up by 447.05 points or by 0.52 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26186.45 up by 152.7 points or by 0.59 %.
On the global front, Across Asia, markets presented a varied picture. Mainland China’s CSI 300 saw a 0.48 per cent gain, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dipped 0.07 per cent as investors awaited China’s November trade data.
Japan’s Nikkei slipped 0.32 per cent after revised figures revealed a sharper contraction in the Japanese economy between July and September than initially estimated.
Official data indicated a third-quarter GDP fall at an annualised rate of 2.3 per cent, exceeding economists’ median forecast of a 2 per cent drop and a preliminary reading of a 1.8 per cent decline. Conversely, South Korea’s KOSPI registered a modest gain of 0.07 per cent.
Overnight, US equities closed higher, with the Dow Jones up 0.22 per cent, the S&P 500 gaining 0.19 per cent, and the Nasdaq rising 0.31 per cent.

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 14970.26 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 651.11 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 13669.19 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1005.61 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1301.07 Crore and Rs. -354.50
