Indian benchmarks are expected to start the day on a negative note today. Investors will look at global cues, stock-specific developments, and oil price movement for market direction today.
On the global front, Asian indices were trading mixed in the early trade on Thursday. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was flat on Thursday but was still set for a whopping 16% gain this month.
Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.04 per cent and 0.57 per cent down, respectively. Bucking the trend, the Nasdaq Composite settled 0.04 per cent higher.
On the commodities front, Brent crude rose above the crucial level of $120 per barrel as reports said that the US has rejected Iran’s peace proposal and directed to intensify the blockade at the Strait of Hormuz. The April future contract was quoted at 121.50, up 2.94 per cent.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77496.36 up by 609.45 points or by 0.79 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24177.65 up by 181.95 points or by 0.76 %.

Total numbers of contracts for index options were 47710545 with a total turnover of Rs. 7572395.04 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 5480778 with a total turnover of Rs. 377287.66 Crore.
The FIIs on 29/04/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 17440.82 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 456.16 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 19432.69 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 559.52 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -1991.87 Crore and Rs. -103.36.
